Two Sonatas (ca.1785) (J.C. Luther)
In the mid 1780’s, the London-based instrument maker, publisher and warehouse owner George Smart advertised the sale of ‘Two Sonatas for the Harpsichord or Piano-Forte’ by the harpsichordist, organist, teacher and composer John Christian Luther.
Since no autograph manuscript has come to light so far, this new DVM score is based on the original publication, revised and edited by David Vine.
This edition includes notational corrections, textural clarifications and also a guide to the execution of the ornamentation as recommended by major authorities of the period.
